New multiplatform laser mapping system launched

Geospatial technology supplier 3D Laser Mapping has announced the launch of a new multiplatform laser mapping system, which it believes is the first of its kind.

The Robin allows users to map areas via walking, driving or flying.

The system integrates a 12 MP camera for driving and 18MP for walking and flying, two GNSS antennas, GIS grade IMU navigation system, touch screen control unit, three mounting systems, capture software, a post-processing software package and has a field of view of 330 degrees. Long-range and precision versions are also available.

“Robin is an extremely exciting product for the industry and is the first on the market to offer a three-in-one system,” said 3D Laser Mapping executive chairman Graham Hunter. “Covering a wide range of terrain, Robin allows high quality data capture from areas such as footpaths, forests and coastlines that are only accessible by foot. Our customers are looking for flexible solutions that can support a high return on investment – and this product offers a unique value proposition.”
