New pile breakdown system developed

Breaking down of pile heads could be easier, faster and safer with use of a new method developed by Novaslice.

The Novaslice is used with debonding tubes

The company has said that cost effective and easy to install solution uses an innovative hollow recycled plastic device that is specially designed to improve health and safety and productivity.

The sacrificial plastic Novaslice works by creating a weak point in the concrete and is placed on each of the rebars and secured using a cable tie before the cage is installed. Once the pile head is ready to be broken down, a wedge is used to pierce the visible outer edge of each slice and create a break within the concrete to allow the head to be removed leaving the rebar exposed.

The plastic wedge is placed on each rebar

Novaslice has said that it is hoping to trial the product on a live piling project soon and is looking for partners to work with.
