Next Generation Awards launched

Speaking at today’s GE Awards event at the Hilton Park Lane, GE editor Claire Smith announced that the 2015 GE Next Generation Awards will take place on 19 November in London.

Smith said that the event shines a spotlight on the wide range of skills that are required to enable the ground engineering industry to tackle the skills crisis and keep delivering innovative solutions.

“I am delighted to confirm that Crossrail chairman Terry Morgan who is a strong advocate of developing opportunities in construction for young people has agreed to be our guest speaker at the event,” said Smith. “I am also very pleased to confirm that Bachy Soletanche has already signed up to sponsor the Ground Engineering Apprentice of the Year Award. I hope more companies will follow suit and allow the profile of the young talent in this sector to be raised to celebrate their achievements and increase awareness of the career opportunities the ground engineering industry has to offer.”

Entries for the 2015 will officially open on Monday 15 June but potential candidates can register their interest by emailing their details to GENextGeneration@emap.com

The closing date for entries will be 4 September and successful candidates will be invited to present to a judging panel on 14 or 15 October, depending on which category they have entered. The awards will take place in the evening on 19 November at the Bloomsbury Hotel in London.

More details will be available from GE’s new skills hub section on its website, which can be accessed via www.geplus.co.uk/GENextGen and draws together details of the event with all the latest skills-related news, opinions and features.
