O’Brien to undertake Jaguar facility earthworks and ground improvement

O’Brien Contractors has announced that it has secured a £5.25M contract from Jaguar Land Rover to undertake earthworks operations and infrastructure work for two new facilities in the Midlands.

Under the deal, O’Brien will carry out major earthwork and ground improvement work at Jaguar Land Rover’s new i54 Engine Manufacturing Facility in Wolverhampton.

The deal also includes infrastructure development at Jaguar’s Advanced Engineering and Design Centre in Whitley, Coventry.

At the Wolverhampton site, O’Brien’s work includes cut and fill of 140,000m3 of site-won material to create a level construction platform for the new development and disposal of 65,000m3 of material off-site. The contractor will also undertake lime/cement stabilisation of a 150,000m2 area followed by import of 34,500t of Type 1 material to form the platform.
