OHL wins £118M contract to build three tunnels

OHL has been awarded the joint construction of the Mondragón-Elorrio-Bergara section in the Vitoria-Bilbao-San Sebastián high-speed line.

The contract includes the construction of three tunnels with a total length of 6.3km - more than 89% of the Mondragón-Elorrio-Bergara section. This includes a 200m tunnel in Angiozar and eight connecting galleries between tunnels.

Worth €134M (£118M), the contract will be led by OHL (40%), and its subsidiaries Sobrino (20%), G&O (10%) and Geotunel (30%).

Recently OHL completed a 2.8km tunnel that runs under Zumárraga; and a 7.9km single track tunnel in the north-northwest corridor of Madrid-Galicia.
