Paris metro propping provided by Groundforce

Construction of a new Paris metro station at Mairie de Saint-Ouen is taking shape below ground following installation of some complex proprietary propping by Groundforce.

Excavation work at the station is being undertaken by a joint venture of Bouygues, Soletanche Bachy and CSM Bessac as part of the line 14 extension.

At Mairie de Saint-Ouen the line 14 extension will link with line 13, resulting in some complex excavations for the new station, shafts for the tunnel boring machine and work to strengthen an RER C tunnel that also passes through the site.

Groundforce supplied 10 MP500 hydraulic props placed at three levels for work on the 27m deep shaft structure, which will provide access to all three tunnels.

According to Groundforce, its props were specified for the project because they could cope with the high stresses induced by the trapezoidal shaft and also were quick to install.
