Piling underway for Kuwait Causeway

Construction work for a new 37km-long causeway across the Bay of Kuwait is now becoming visible above water with piling work underway in three areas.

Contractor Trevi Foundation Kuwait is installing more than 1,200 piles for the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah Causeway Project, which will connect Shuwaikh Port with Subiya New Town Development.

The project, which is named after the principality’s late emir, includes a 27km-long low-level bridge, a main 200m span bridge, elevated approach roads and a 5km approach road.

The work is split between two contractors – Hyundai Engineering and Construction and Combine Group Contracting – and Trevi is undertaking bored piling work for both. Piling depths vary between 30m and 84m depending on the location and structure they will support.
