Polarcus completes offshore 3D seismic survey in The Gambia

Polarcus has completed a new 3D seismic survey off the coast of The Gambia for Erin Energy, an oil and gas exploration company.

The survey, which covered approximately 1,613km2, will inform Erin Energy’s exploration activities in the region. The company has interest in two exploration licences for the A2 and A5 blocks, located in The Gambia’s offshore Casamance-Bissau sub-basin.

The investigation was undertaken using the Polarcus Alima, a 12 streamer 3D/4D seismic vessel.

Erin Energy will now commence processing and interpretation of the survey data, with results expected to be available during Q2 2016.

Segun Omidele, Erin Energy’s chief operating officer, said: “We look forward to receiving the processed seismic data, which will allow us to build upon our understanding of the prolific plays in this emerging basin, and will assist our team in determining exploration activities on the blocks.”
