Rest and Be Thankful diversion route opened

teams have been working to carry out repairs to the debris fences above a83 carriageway

Transport Scotland’s term maintenance contractor Bear Scotland has said that work to open a diversion route for the A83 at Rest and Be Thankful following landslides last week has been completed.

Bear said that geotechnical assessment and clearance work of the Old Military Road enabled the route to be used by traffic in daylight hours from yesterday morning.

Slope stability in the area is continuing to be monitored to ensure the safety of road users and further inspections will be undertaken before opening the route this morning.

The contract also said that work to clear debris and reinstate catch fences on the A83 is continuing.
