Roger Bullivant’s roller coaster set to open this spring

A £16.25M roller coaster at Blackpool Pleasure Beach is set to open this spring after Roger Bullivant delivered precast and steel piles for the foundations for the new ride.

The ICON roller coaster, the fastest in Europe, will propel riders out of a tunnel at speeds of up to 80kph.

The pleasure beach contract, worth over £0.5M, was run by the Roger Bullivant’s Chorley office and the firm installed approximately 8,000m of precast concrete and steel piles at the park.

Roger Bullivant’s North West estimating engineer Wes Bagot said: “Our local geotechnical knowledge meant we know the ground in this area and could offer the best engineered solutions.

“This was a very exciting project and has generated a lot of interest in Blackpool and the surrounding area.”

The ride is the world’s most interactive, looping through, underneath and around Blackpool Pleasure Beach’s other rides 15 times, over 1.14 km of steel track.
