Roma stadium ground investigation starts

Italian football club AS Roma has confirmed that the geotechnical ground investigation for its new stadium has got underway.

In a statement the club said that it had appointed Geores to undertake the work at the new Tor di Valle site.

Geores director general Claudio Vercelli said that his company had undertaken similar work in the area, so they knew what ground conditions they are likely to encounter. “We’re already aware of the geological and geotechnical characteristics,” he said. “Our task here is to obtain data to be used in calculations when setting the dimensions of the structures. In simple terms, we’re preparing a technical data sheet to expand on the data we already possess, which tells us that the soil is suitable for the construction of the stadium.”

Construction work on the stadium is expected to start later this year.
