RPS secures Irish pier consultancy work

Ireland’s Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine has appointed RPS to undertake the civil engineering consultancy for a major fishing port extension in County Cork.

Under the contract, RPS will undertake design for two extensions of the existing of Dinish Pier at Fishery Harbour Centre (FHC) is located in Berehaven, County Cork.

Dinish Pier will be extended on two sides by up to 125m as part of the project and dredging into the bedrock to create an 8m draftis also planned.

The work also includes design of foundations to support a new 500t mobile boat hoist and dealing with seabed contamination relating to Tributyltin.

Extension of the pier to expected to support further expansion of the fishing industries in the area.
