Maintenance and construction of retaining walls, embankments and cuttings are among the tasks that successful bidders in Scottish Canal’s new framework agreement could be working on.
Details of the tender for the two year framework agreement were published in the Official Journal of the European Union today.
Scottish Canals has said that it is looking to appoint a number of contractors to cover a range of civil engineering works for the entire Scottish Canals network. Some work will be awarded directly to successful bidders but other elements may involve mini-competitions.
The total framework could be worth up to £35M but Scottish Canals has said that, although the work planned is made up of historical spend, planned projects and the aspirational ambitions, some of the works are dependent on securing the necessary funding. Individual schemes within this framework are expected to be valued at £50,000 to £300,000 but there are some higher value projects planned with a value of up to £1M.
The initial framework will run for two years but is extendable by up to a further three years.
