Simplex secures piling for major military rehabilitation centre

Simplex Westpile has announced that it has been appointed to undertake the piling work for the £200M Defence and National Rehabilitation Centre at Stanford Hall, near Loughborough.

Main contractor Interserve is undertaking the construction of a bespoke clinical rehabilitation facility to deliver specialist support for the treatment and rehabilitation of injured servicemen and women.

Simplex will install over 2,000 400mm diameter CFA piles to provide foundations for the 17 planned buildings and will also install a further 41 600mm diameter piles to form a 30m long contiguous pile wall. All the piles will be installed to 10m into the underlying mudstone.

The foundations work is expected to take four months to complete and the centre is due to open in 2018.
