Singapore awards £349M tunnelling contract

Singapore’s Land Transport Authority has announced the appointment of another contractor for a section of its 21.5km long integrated transport North-South Corridor project following the award of six contracts earlier this month.

Under the latest SG$615.9M (£349M) deal, Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Comapny (Singapore) will construct a road tunnel, an MRT station box and commuter facilities, including pedestrian overhead bridges, bus stops, sheltered walkways, and cycling paths between Sin Ming Avenue and Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3.

The scheme involves construction an 800m long dual three lane road tunnel with integration with the the future Cross Island Line Teck Ghee MRT station.

Work on this contract is expected to start in the second quarter of this year and the overall project is due for completion in 2026.
