A Skanska and Pöyry consortium have signed a contract with the Finnish transport agency Liikennevirasto for the construction of the Lahti end of the Lahti Southern Ring Road section.
The project for the Lahti end of the new ring road is said to be one of the most tecthnically demanding parts of the overall scheme with two tunnels, three interchanges and 12 bridges.
When completed the Lahti Southern Ring Road project will increase the safe flow of traffic on highway 12 as well as to promote the development possibilities of businesses and efficient land use in the entire Lahti region.
Skanska’s part of the contract is worth €161M (£140M) which will be included in the Nordic order bookings for the second quarter 2018.
Construction works have already begun, and the project is scheduled to open for traffic in November 2020 with completion in September 2021.
