Skanska secures Norwegian tunnel deal

Skanska Norway has announced that it has signed a contract with the Norwegian public road authority Staten Vegvesen to build a new tunnel on the E69 in the Finnmark region.

The NOK622M (£57M) deal involves construction of the new 3.5km long Skarvberg tunnel and another 3.8km of new ground level road.

The aim of the project is to protect the E69 route against avalanches and the project also involves construction of two major avalanche embankments on the route.

Construction is due to start this spring and is set to be completed in autumn 2021.
