Ground engineering work to improve traffic flow on New York City’s Harlem River Drive project has recently been completed two years after Menard Construction and Nicholson started work on the scheme.
Menard undertook ground improvement work with 700 controlled modulus columns with rigid inclusions installed to support the bridge approaches for the upgraded junction with Second Avenue.
Nicholson worked with GEI Consultants to undertake design work on the scheme for Menard, which Menard project manager Mike Shedlosky describes as challenging.
“This was our first time working on a public New York City project, which is significant for us,” said Shedlosky. “Even though we encountered many challenges, in the end everyone was happy with the results.”
