Trevi reports good progress on Manila piling

Installation of over 2,000 piles with diameters of up to 3.5m by piling contractor Trevi is well underway for a major motorway upgrade in the Philippine city of Manila.

The foundation work is part of construction of a 14km overpass to connect Manila’s NLEX motorway in the north with the SLEX one in the south.

Trevi Foundations Philippines is working for Philippines-based main contractors DMCI and EEI on the project which was commissioned by San Miguel Corporation and Citra Central Expressway Corporation.

Manila challenge

Installation of over 2,000 piles with diameters of up to 3.5m by piling contractor Trevi is well underway

Variable thicknesses of alluvial sediments over volcanic tuff along the route means that some of the piles are being constructed under bentonite support. However, Trevi has said one of the main challenges has been the logistics due to the site being bounded by roads that are continuous use.
