Tutor Perini JV has confirmed it has won the contract for the Purple Line Extension Section 3 tunnels project.

Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority has approved the award of a US£410M (£308.7M) contract to the Frontier-Kemper/Tutor Perini Joint Venture for the Purple Line Extension Section 3 Tunnels Project.

The project involves the design and construction of twin bored tunnels for future Purple Line subway service spanning approximately 4km between Century City and the VA Hospital in Westwood in Los Angeles.

The subway extension will provide a high-capacity, high-speed, alternative for those traveling to and from Los Angeles’ Westside.

Tutor Perini is currently working on section 2 of the project, which includes tunnelling and construction of new stations in Beverly Hills and Century City.

Work is expected to commence in the next 90 days with substantial completion anticipated in the fourth quarter of 2022.
