Van Oord to build German wind farm foundations

van oord

Northland Power has appointed Van Oord to undertake engineering work, including foundation installation, on its new 252MW Deutsche Bucht offshore wind farm.

Construction of the foundations for the 31 8MW wind turbines located in the North Sea is expected to start on site in 2018 with the facility expected to be operational by the end of 2019.

Award of the contract for this project follows on from Northland’s work with Van Oord on the Gemini wind farm. Northland Power CEO John Brace said: “We had a great experience working with Van Oord on our Gemini wind farm. Van Oord is one of the world’s leading contractors in offshore construction, and we have developed a very strong and collaborative relationship. Together we look forward to delivering another high quality project.”
