Video shows further slope failure at East Cowes

Around 6,000t of material is estimated to have failed onto the esplanade at East Cowes in the Isle of Wight and drone footage reveals the extent of the damage.

The esplanade has been closed since a slope failure in 2014 block the route and the latest ground movement, which is continuing, has extended the blockage.

East Cowes councillor Karl Love warned people to stay away from the site of the landslip.

He said: “It goes right back into the woods. There are lots of dog walkers in the woods and they should keep clear because it is clearly dangerous and still moving.”
