Weekend completion for rail culvert collapse repairs

Howden collapse

Network Rail has said that the A614 at Howden in Yorkshire will reopen under traffic control on Saturday following repairs to a collapsed culvert that closed the route in mid-April.

Repairs have been carried out around the clock since the rail culvert, which carries water below the road, collapsed.

“Our team has worked around the clock to get the road reopened as soon as possible and I am delighted to confirm that traffic will be using the A614 again from this weekend,” said Network Rail area director Mark Tarry.

The temporary traffic lights will remain in place until 20 June to allow embankment repairs to be completed on either side of the road.
