Piling progress for Nottingham tram

Extension of the Nottingham tram network is progressing and piling work to construct a new bridge to carry tram lines into Nottingham railway station is now underway.

Bachy Soletanche is installing 26, 1.2m diameter CFA piles to 11.4m below ground level to toe into the underlying sandstone bedrock for the new bridge on the second phase of the Nottingham Express Transit system for a joint venture of Taylor Woodrow Alstom.

Work on the two new lines, which extend the service to the south west of the city to serve the university and theClifton area, began in January this year and is expected to finish by late 2014.
