Technical Paper: Estimating the potential impact of cable percussion piling

by Keith Nicholls. This paper was first published in GE’s October 2009 issue.

Abstract

Whilst there is a reasonable stock of literature relating to most forms of construction activity, and extensive available information relating to piling equipment and blasting, there appears to be a dearth of information relating to the vibration impact associated with cable percussion drilling.

This paper presents some initial findings of some site based monitoring aimed at establishing a framework for estimating the potential impact of vibration associated with an element of construction works that generally is carried out well in advance of the main construction phase.
