Technical paper: General (areal) subsidence above partial extraction mines - Part 2

Introduction

In the first part of this paper, the writers introduced and described general subsidence in mines, including geological factors and its widespread nature. Mechanisms of mine - collapse were examined covering four types of pillar failure floor punching, ceiling punching, crushing ofpillars and pillar crushing ofoverburden rock. Pillar stresses and pillar strength were explained.
